Contest rules - 2nd Edition, 2019

The "Draw (ing) a ROBOT" contest is an initiative of the National College "Mihai Viteazul" robotics teamFTC in Ploiesti, Ro2D2, and will take place during the October 1st - November 23, 2019 period.

About the contest ...

The competition aims to increase the interest of children and youngsters in robotics, stimulating their creativity and motivating them to pursue a career in this field, to work in research and creation centers, in innovation Hubs.

The goal of this contest is to popularize robotics by providing materials related to the history of robotics and news in the field of mechatronics.

It is a drawings/collages and 3D design contest that stimulates creativity, develops 3D design skills, as the participants have the opportunity to practice their English/French and enter the fascinating world of robotics.

The contest will be thematically integrated in the timetable of actions dedicated to the European Week of Robotics (www.eu-robotics.net/robotics_week) during the 14-25 November 2019 period.

The European Week of Robotics is an initiative that takes place in November each year.

It was launched in 2011 by EUrobotics, a network of European level organizations, whose mission is to work with the European Commission to develop and implement a strategy for research, technological development and innovation in the field of robotics.

In Romania, it was first organized in 2017.

The contest is for children and young people aged between 8 and 18 years old.

STAGES OF THE COMPETITION

  • October  1-5 , 2019 the launch and popularization of the competition among children and young people;
  • October 6-25, 2019 the conduct of the design and 3D design "DRAW (ING) A ROBOT" contest and sending them to ro2d2team@yahoo.com
  • October 26-31, 2019 the posting of selected works on the contest's Facebook page;
  • November 1-16, 2019 the voting on posted works;
  • November 18, 2019 the winners' designation;
  • November 23,2019 the winners' awards gala.

THE RULES OF THE "Draw(ing) a ROBOT" CREATIVE CONTEST

  • DESIGN / COLLAGE GRAPHIC SECTION
  • The 8-13 years old category
  • The 14-18 years old category
  • 3D DESIGN SECTION
  • The 8-13 years old category
  • The 14-18 years old category

Participants: children and young people aged between 8 and 18 years old.

Rules of participation

  • the contestants have to make a graphic image of a robot using the drawing / collage technique or 3D design;
  • graphic images should be made in the A4 format, using the collage technique, drawing or painting techniques, watercolors, tempera, pastels, oil, acrylics, pencils, caricatures and various materials (plastic, wood, cardboard, paper, cloth, recyclable materials and so on);
  • 3D robot design can be done using the application SolidWorks Apps for Kids (https://www.swappsforkids.com);
  • the works must be original, made by competitors and not awarded in any other competitions;
  • scanned drawings and / or files will be submitted online individually at ro2d2team@yahoo.com by October 15, 2019 and will be accompanied by a message that will include:

- title of the paper = robot name and a message of up to 50 words in English/Frech referring to the theme of the paper;

- the first and last name, the year of birth and the participant's city and country of origin must also be stated;

  • 2-3 print screens of the 3D robot design will be submitted online at ro2d2team@yahoo.com by October 15, 2019 and will be accompanied by a message that will include:

- title of the paper = robot name and a message of up to 50 words in English referring to the theme of the paper; - the first and last name, the year of birth and the participant's city and country of origin must also be stated;

  • the works will be validated, sorted and archived by the organizer;
  • October 16-20, 2019, the works will be posted on the contest's Facebook page https://web.facebook.com/drawingarobot/ and Ro2D2 team's Facebook page https://web.facebook.com/Ro2D2teamFTC/;
  • the works may be voted for during the October 20-November 13,2019 period;
  • the 3 works from each section that gather the most likes will be awarded on November 16, 2019;
  • he winning works will also be published on the robotics team's website www.ro2d2team.com;
  • participation certificates and prizes will be sent online;
  • gifts will be shipped via the postal service.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

  • Participants will agree to share all work rights with the organizer of the contest.
  • The organizer will therefore have the full right to use, reproduce, adapt, publish and distribute the participating works, respectively the winning ones, respecting the copyrights of all works, using the "created by ..." statement along with the author's name, in all materials wherever they are published.
